Annual Review 2018

The FG ProQ team is very happy to follow the long-established tradition of briefly reporting to friends and supporters of the FG ProQ on the fruits of joint collaboration in the Annual Review 2018.

The work in the DFG research project KAUSAL is essentially completed. The approach to causal failure chain processing has not only been presented at many international conferences (see the list of FG ProQ publications), but also contributes to systematically implementing the functional safety required by ISO 26262 in the early stages of product development. In the DFG research project ReMaiN we will discuss and develop the first methodical approach to requirements management in corporate networks together with industrial partners at the company Wiesemann & Theis on 17.01.2019. In addition, it is planned to evaluate this approach with start-up companies in March 2019. We are very pleased that we have been able to recruit another DFG project by gaining more staff. The project FusLa (development of a goal-oriented fault search and solution algorithm in production based on complaint information from use) builds on the KAUSAL project and will deal with algorithms for fault cause research. Our two new employees were able to successfully confirm their PhD-projects in the field of "Development of a goal-oriented error search and solution algorithm in production on the basis of complaint information from use" and "Development of a procedural concept for model-based agile requirements management in organizations".
The Master of Quality Engineering was successfully re-accredited for the third time. This semester, approximately 45 students study this university course, which is still unique in Germany. Here our team is challenged in a special way, because we want to further develop the methods and social skills through project and small group work in context of the master programme. Numerous students took advantage of the opportunity to obtain additional qualifications this year, including the EFQM assessor (35 students), the Six Sigma Green Belt (32 students), the supplier auditor in cooperation with TAW (22 students) and QSMJ in cooperation with DGQ (9 students).
Although our team is particularly challenged by the academic teaching and the encouragement by the students, we nevertheless managed to successfully realize the Bergische Innovationsdrehscheibe as well as the Workshop Pro Quality at the company Vorwerk on 23.11.2018. At the same time the research project ACTIFF focussing the integration of young and old people with health restrictions in the volunteer fire brigade in cooperation with Professor Barth will start from 03.01.2019. In this context, we were able to get a new employee to participate in the project for our team.
We are also proud to inform you that the Bergische Qualitätsforum, which takes place every two years, will take place on 14.04.2019 in the Remscheid Technology Factory. The host will be the Forschungsgemeinschaft Werkzeuge (FGW) with the support of the EnergyAgency.NRW. In cooperation with our partners of IHK, IQZ, BSW and the regional associations of VDI and DGQ, we will discuss future-oriented topics in the field of quality science that interest companies in the Technology Factory Remscheid.
