School of Mechanical Engineering and Safety Engineering

Annual Review 2016

The year 2016 has passed very quickly.

Time just flew by while the FG ProQ team was facing a large number of tasks. Due to the successful acquisition of two DFG-projects, we are currently in the process of building a new team. Whereas the DFG-project KAUSAL (KAUSAL) deals with failure chains, the DFG-project ReMaiN (ReMaiN) is focusing on the configuration of a requirements management for business networks. Besides the acquisition of research projects, the soaring number of students in the Masters Program Quality Engineering (200% utilization) has been another positive challenge for our team that we are managing successfully, as confirmed by the evaluation of the students.

Our offers regarding additional qualifications in the Masters Program Quality Engineering, such as the Excellence Assessor with 28 certificates, Quality System Manager Junior with 7 certificates and Six Sigma Belt with 11 certificates are finding vast popularity among our students. The members of the FG ProQ team carry out these additional tasks with great commitment. At the same time we are continuously taking care of our necessary activities by publishing our scientific achievements (Publications FG ProQ) and preparing the reaccreditation of our courses of study in the School of Mechanical Engineering and Safety Engineering (Bachelor Safety Engineering, Bachelor Mechanical Engineering, Master Quality Engineering, Master Safety Engineering and Master Mechanical Engineering).

Moreover, big activities are already planned for the upcoming year 2017. Thus, we organize the Bergische Quality Forum in cooperation with the IHK, VDI, BSWG and IQZ at the headquarters of Delphi in Wuppertal on the 23rd of July in 2017. Furthermore, our department is moving to the new replacement building for engineering at the BUW in summer.

In addition, we are looking forward to publish the second edition of the book “Generic Systems Engineering” in cooperation with Springer Publishing.
